Work Begins on Dam Foundations
The Minister for Infrastructure and Planning the Hon Stirling Hinchliffe MP has signalled the start of works on the wall for the Wyaralong Dam.
Over 280,000 cubic meters of rock will now be excavated to prepare the foundations for the 500 metre long dam wall.
Construction of the Wyaralong Dam Project is being undertaken in three works packages - preconstruction (complete), the Beaudesert-Boonah Road realignment, and dam construction.
Due for completion in 2011, the Wyaralong Dam will supply 21,000 million litres of additional water each year (when operated in conjunction with Cedar Grove Weir).
The Wyaralong Dam is located on the Teviot Brook, approximately 14 kilometres northwest of Beaudesert in the Logan River Catchment.
